Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be enjoyed in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at home on your computer, using a web account. The rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to win cash. The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "distributed" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful gamblers are able to choose the most beneficial ones each time.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that might been won. Further, some versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their winnings, in which instance another round is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
